Ripon volunteers take on Camino de Santiago for Saint Michael’s

In less than a month, Sandra and Denise, our incredible Ripon shop volunteers will walk 100km to Santiago to raise money for Saint Michael’s!
The pair are taking on a section of the Camino challenge after sharing personal connections to our care, and hearing from customers how much of a difference our support has made.

They said: “Nearly everyone you speak to in our Ripon shop has either known someone who has received care from Saint Michael’s or been supported themselves. It means a lot to us to give something back on behalf of our community.

Sandra explained how “they were just marvellous when supporting my partner- very caring and looking after me and well as him.”

Denise reflected on how friends and her partner’s late wife had stayed on Saint Michael’s inpatient unit. “It helps me relate to the people we speak to in our shop.”

“We’re very excited for the adventure. We’ll be walking an average of 16 km a day over six days. We both walk regularly so are pretty fit ahead of the challenge.”

Denise and Sandra have already smashed their £1000 target raising over £1,500. They would love to keep going so please sponsor them if you wish via their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/deniseandsandra
