We understand that when someone is living with a terminal illness, everyone around them is affected.
As well as helping you feel confident and assured that your loved one will receive the highest quality of care, we’re here to offer practical, spiritual and emotional support for family, friends and carers.
Saint Michael’s is on hand to explain the care and support available to your loved one, and to you, helping you find the right care and support to meet your individual needs, lifestyle and wishes.
We help people living with terminal illness to overcome challenges when their needs become more complex and their usual care team feel that specialist support would be beneficial. For example, this may be support to manage complex symptoms, or emotional support to express and understand feelings and concerns.
Saint Michael’s works closely with our community colleagues and we encourage you to talk to them about whether Saint Michael’s is right for your family, and when might be the best time to access our services. If you find that a Saint Michael’s service isn’t right for you, we will support you to explore other options, either within Saint Michael’s own services, or through our close working links with local health and social care providers.
We take great care to get to know the patient and their families to ensure we can meet people’s individual needs. This might be helping a gentleman with shaving, or doing someone’s hair just the way they like, so they feel more like themselves.‘‘ - Jaimie Watson, Healthcare Assistants Manager

All of the care and support we provide to patients and their families is completely free of
charge. We want everyone living with a terminal illness to get the care they need to live their life; we believe this is a right and should not be determined by a person’s budget. Saint Michael’s is an independent local charity and relies on the generous support of our community to continue our services.
“It is easy and perhaps understandable for people to focus on my medical condition, however, Saint Michael’s Hospice has really understood that this is not our priority. The emotional safety and stability of our family is paramount, to this end we feel that Saint Michael's Hospice and Just ‘B’ have picked us all up and wrapped their arms around us in a collective hug."
