We’re so thankful to all who joined us at Ripon Cathedral and outside our Crimple House Hospice, as well as at our service led by the community of St Cuthbert’s Church in Pateley Bridge.
You can watch highlights from our services below, which includes the heart-warming moment that our hospice tree was illuminated.
For over 20 years, our Light up a Life remembrance services have been a meaningful occasion for our community to remember loved ones and help their memories shine on. Each festive season, we invite you to dedicate a light on our hospice tree and gather together for music, readings and reflections. Whether you wish to laugh, cry, be surrounded by people or spend time in quiet, we welcome you to take time to remember however feels right for you.
By making a special gift of a donation when you dedicate a light, you have supported
us in providing expert care to families in our community when they need us.
Your donations of £36 helped offer someone staying on our inpatient unit last December a very special festive daily menu with all the trimmings, tailored to their individual needs and abilities.
A £60 donation enabled our specialist Just ‘B’ service to provide one-to-one support for a child, young person or adult experiencing grief over the festive season.
Your £147 donation helped a member of our specialist HOME service team to continue travelling to where they need to be for a week of home visits over the festive season, ensuring our patients could spend Christmas at home surrounded by the people and things they love.
"My mum, sister and I came for the first time in 2015, not knowing what to expect, and it was so poignant that we haven’t missed a service since. The songs, words and togetherness that the service brings, makes me so warm within that moment that nothing else can compare.
"Knowing that I can take a moment to remember my dad at Christmas, while supporting hospice care makes Light up a Life so special."Read Portia's story
We have heard and seen so many special stories of people we cared for, and those close to them during our Light up a Life services. If you would like to share your story with us to help us illustrate the difference that our care makes, we’d love to hear from you and would be so grateful.
