Light Up a Life 2021

A time to remember. A space to be you.

Light up a Life brings love, comfort and hope to our community, and to Saint Michael’s, each Christmas.

For over 20 years, our Light up a Life remembrance services have been a meaningful occasion for our community to gather together, remember loved ones and recollect on the past months as well as hope for the future. They have offered the opportunity to dedicate a light on our tree to someone special, take a few moments to remember and to support the care that we provide for people living with terminal illness and bereavement.

When you make a dedication in memory of someone special, your donation will help us give the gift of care this Christmas.

Your brightly shining star could make a difference to local people living with terminal illness or bereavement.

Year round, our dedicated catering team work hard to create nutritious meals our patients can enjoy. A donation of £36 could help offer someone staying on our inpatient unit this December a very special festive daily menu with all the trimmings, tailored to their individual needs and abilities.

A £50 donation could enable our specialist Just ‘B’ service to provide one-to-one support for a child, young person or adult experiencing grief over the festive season.

More people than ever need – and want – to be cared for at the end of life in the safety and comfort of their own homes. Your £140 donation could help a member of our specialist HOME service team to continue travelling to where they need to be for a week of home visits over the festive season, ensuring our patients can spend Christmas at home surrounded by the people and things they love.

"Coming together with other families in a similar position made us feel it was OK to be vulnerable and grieve."

“In the December after Dad died, our family came to Saint Michael’s Light up a Life service. It’s a happy place where we feel comfortable remembering Dad. While our emotions were raw, it was really comforting and such a meaningful experience.”
