Meet Alison

Your Housekeeping Assistant

At Saint Michael’s, every team member plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and comforting environment for patients and families. We spoke to Alison from our housekeeping team about her role and what makes working here so special.
What is your role at Saint Michael’s?

I’m part of the housekeeping team. There are four of us and we clean the whole building every single day, hoovering, dusting and, deep cleaning the rooms when required.

Do you interact with patients while you’re working?

Yes, we talk to patients and families as we clean however, if a patient is really poorly, we allow them space. They often tell us how great Saint Michael’s is and that they really appreciate the team.

Can you think of a memorable moment with a patient?

We had a farmer staying with us who said, ‘You’re a good worker, you work really hard. I really appreciate what you do.’ He was only with us for a week before he died, but it meant a lot to me that he recognised my work.

Why do you think community support is important for the hospice?

We need support from the local community to run the hospice. Everyone works as a team and the support helps keep it all going.

Like Alison, our team makes a real difference every day. You can help us keep this care going by donating today. Every gift helps to make a real difference to the care we provide.
